German colonies in Africa 1922
After Germany and the Central Powers won ww1 they grabbed several colonies in Africa from the rivals. While there was a white peace with Britain, Germany took colonies from France, Italy, Belgium and Portugal. Britain needing some gains to calm their own people for the loss of lifes in the field agrees with Germany to gain some colonies as well. Britain gets parts from Portuguese Mozambique and Somalia from Italy.
The german colonies are split into 4:
Mittelafrika with the capital Wilhelmsburg, which is also the capital of the colonial administration there (former Leopoldville).
Deutsch-Westafrika, with the capital Lome, using mostly the symbolism of Togo.
Deutsch-Eritrea, a smaller colony to controll parts of the Red Sea with the capital Asmara.
Deutsch-Marokko, with a special protectorate status where the local king has still a lot of autonomy and the capital in Rabat.
Germany will have to invest massivly into a colonial army and also develop the own navy, which will make Britain upset, but unlike the belgian king, Wilhelm III and especially Friedrich IV change the behavior towards the native peoples treating them better to keep uprisings on a minimum.
Also Austria will get Libya and Tunesia from France and Italy until it merges with the German Empire.
I havn´t included the names of all the provinces of Mittelafrika etc. that is for a upfollowing map in future.
If you see any mistakes or if you have any better ideas I can edit it. I used the german names on the map because it is part of a larger project, sorry.
Great helpers for the borders and basemaps were my dear and check out their galleries!

dann sagst du vielleicht zu^^
Rhodesia, British Mozambique, and maybe Betschuanaland (Just more colonial connections and such, but maybe some of them would have gone to an independent South Africa)
Nigeria, Gold Coast, and Sierra Leone (Since valuable materials in all those regions including gold and ivory and cocoa and etc.)
Uganda and Kenya(Victoria Sea Plans)
The Ottomans would have gained Libya because they had wanted it, and Austria doesn't need more ethnicities in its borders
Egypt would be given to the Ottomans too, and Germany probably would have ceded Suez
Djibouti would probably have been given to Germany too as it would be an important trading city
Germany probably wouldnt have taken northern chad since it was mostly desert
Morrocco would probably have just gotten independence as it isnt worth the troops to hold a place like Morrocco, or it would have been a vassal.
But i just want to see what your logic is for each please.
they overolled the german colonies. And it´s already a miracle they accept that Germany installs Mittelafrika.
Well if Austria demands Libya Germany wouldn´t give it to them. And while the arabic nationalism arises,
there is no big chance they can demand it.
Yes Morocco has a special status, it´s a Schutzgebiet like a protectorate.
But at least we keep Algeria and the Four Old Cities of Senegal, who were officially part of France before decolonization. Well perhaps French colonial empire would be more integrated with less territories in this timeline. It could become a French "Brazil" with a métisse culture
And we keep oil, gaz and uranium
I guess we also keep our oldest colonies in America, but what about Oceania ? (Note : New Caledonia have an important French colony of seetlement).
Also, why didn't you get some British colonies ? I could understand they would've been difficult to negociate, but at least we could imagine they give you some minors colonies (Zanzibar by eg)
And how did you get Portuguese colonies ?
Btw Libya wasn't French, but Italian
No there is no way Britain loses colonies imo, only exchanges maybe.
Portugal declared war on Germany in ww1, didn´t you know? But they might
give them some small compensation with money tho.
Ah fuck I edited the text wrong XD
You can´t beat Britain in that time. The British Empire is unbelievable strong
and you can´t invade their island without exhausting yourself. The land blockade was awful for Germany
and the british navy would overrun all german colonies in no time. Instead of continuing a war for many
years (the same happened to Napoleon btw) they rather agree on a white peace and share some colonies.
That´s something many people ignore in the "what if germany wins ww1" scenarios. There is no realistic way
Germany could defeat or demand anything from Britain, no chance. And if it goes to far even the USA might step in.
They´ll probably support the Soviet Union, try to get the USA involved and maybe even allies with the
fascist movements in the southern states, because this would probably happen anyway. And of course try
to get France into the boat. But...if France will really want to go into war against Germany once more is not sure.
In my scenario the new Kaiser Friedrich IV is a charismatic guy who wants to start a new policy of tolerance
and good relations with France. He agrees to give them back the small annexed regions for example.
So France is a 50/50 case. And when the second world war begins in 1944, they have to decide what they do.
Austria-Hungary will fall apart after 1922, Libya will fall to Germany then. So the victory only delayed it, but the
fall of it will be muuuuch softer and the peoples there agree on a new order, without powers from outside that
Here is the map of Europe in 1944:
