I tried another map-style this time, I hope you like it.
The map shows how the Germanics, originally coming from North Germany/ South Scandinavia,
started to move south-, west- and eastwards within 1000 years.
The settlement of the germanic tribes didn´t end at that century of course, later on there were
huge migrations of the Goths, Anglo-Saxons, Vandals and many more.
I wanted to add the names of the tribes, but I think it would´ve been too confusing and too much
words on that map.

Update 13.09.2016:
Reworked the whole map to a new style.
