This picture is part of my project "Proud Nations". I want to show my respect for all the great nations out there and I wish that Germany and every single country can be friends and that everyone is allowed to have normal patriotic feelings.
I´ll show famous buildings, persons, landscapes, things or symbols of every nation. I´m sorry for not including everything, but it´s necessary to reduce it to the most famous, or it would be too much.
Don´t worry if I havn´t made a picture of your country yet, I will always make a new picture, if I have time. I´ll add a small positive information about every country below this text.

Germany

Germany is not only famous for great poets and composers, also many important inventions and discoveries were done in the land between the east and west of Europe.
Famous people like Einstein, Bismarck or Beethoven and german virtues like order, discipline and loyality still build the respect in many parts of the world for this old european country.

Great composition! Making a famous 1848 painting the centre of it is a great idea. Though I disagree with the inclusion of Arminius, even though this statue does stand in Germany: He was a Cherusci, not a German. He was a Germanic, but then, so are Scandinavians and English ;) Also, maybe a scene from the fall of the Berlin Wall would have fit in well here...

But the Cherusker are Germanics, the ancestors of the Germans,
so I don´t see a mistake in making a historical line from the ancestors
to the modern Germans.
All Germans are Germanics, but not all Germanics are Germans^^

The Cheruscians might have been part of the genetic ancestors for some Germans, but then so was the Homo erectus and I see a picture on them ;) Besides, genetic descant is not what defines a nation, culture and identity are. The point is that the Cheruscians and Arminius were not Germans. Can't have been because Germans didn't yet exist. For a picture of the "German origin", a depiction of Louis the German or Henry the Fowler might have served better.

Yes he was not a German, but he is part of our blood-line, and it doesn´t matter if you called the people on that territory from 1000 BC till 862 AD Germanics, and then Germans, they are all the same people.

But what is right, the modern Germans are made basically by germanic blood, but has mixed up a lot with the neigbour peoples, such as Slavs, Romanics and Celts. Tho Germans have usually still a nordic look.

Einfach geil! You did such a wonderful job compiling German icons and events throughout time from Medieval to present. Uh, I really hate to bring this up, but maybe it's not that obvious 'cause you put your effort into this, but where's MARTIN LUTHER? I think Luther was a towering figure that affected not only world history but mainly Germany's religious consciousness and his impact on Christendom. Something Germany should definitely be appreciative of. I think this mosaic gives some insight into the German spirit and soul. Like Germany's core of existence revolves around the past giving launch into the future. Sehr episch!

Hey thanks for that awesome and nice comment!

Ah you´re right Luther should be in the picture too, it´s sometimes difficult to choose the most important ones...Of course Luther influenced the whole world history and christianity with his ideas, who knows maybe our religion would be still rather old-fashioned and medieval without him^^

I completely understand that there are so many important German figures to choose from and going with the obvious seems to be the best choice. But yes, who knows what would've become of Christianity without Luther. Better for Germany to be half Protestant, half Catholic rather than be lost. Isn't Germany more or less like that? I've heard the stereotype that southern Germany is mainly Catholic and northern Germany is mainly Protestant, but I'm sure there's exceptions to the rule.
I'm only speaking of the Christian population here because I know there's a growing Muslim population from Turkish immigrants. =)

It´s true, the south is more catholic and the north more protestant, but there is no real border, you can also find protestant communities in Bavaria and catholic ones in the north^^

These two kinds of christianity have good and bad sides, the bad one is, that in the 17th century we had the awful 30-years-war, this war was far worse than any world war, in some parts of the Reich 2/3 of the population was killed and armys from all european great powers fought in Germany. And afterwards we had about 300 german states, the unification was far away, and during this time Spain, Britain and France started to conquer the world, while we were stuck with our many small states.

Yes we get more and more muslims that´s right, but they´re not in a special region, they´re in all bigger cities. I heard Berlin is the city with the 2nd largest turkish population of the world now, right after Istanbul.
