Magdeburg 1631

This is a picture from a cool documentary about the 30 years war. you can see the historical city of Magdeburg an important cultural center in the middleage and early modern times.
In the year 1631 the catholic army from the Habsburger sieged this city for many months, about 30.000 soldiers sieged 30.000 people. At the end the catholic army won and destroyed
the whole city. This was a shock for whole Europe and the new Magdeburgisieren was used for destroying a whole city.

The 30 years war was the worst war for Germany ever, even worse than any world war, in some regions 2/3 of all people died, because all european powers used Germany as their battlefield.
