Description
This is a map about the variety of the bavarian dialect.
Bavarian is spoken in Bavaria and a tiny part of Saxony, Germany, in nearly all of Austria, in some tiny parts of Switzerland, an ultra tiny part of Hungary and in South Tyrol, Italy.
Before 1945, also the southern and southwestern Sudetenland had bavarian speaking people of course. Today only a tiny minority exists
in Eger and other towns.
Actually ther´re 3 big groups:
South Bavarian
Middle Bavarian
North Bavarian
But on this map I made it even more detailled and included for example the special dialects
in the capital of Bavaria (Minga; High-German: München) and Austria (Wean; High-German: Wien).
Bavarian was voted the most loved dialect among all german ones within Germany, followed by Low German.
For more information, check Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bavarian…
PS: Yes we write Bayern with a y, but when it´s about the language we still say Bairisch.
The y was added in the 19th century by a phil-hellenic bavarian king, before it was called Baiern.
In the Dialect we call it "Boarisch" (pls speak the o and a together^^)
